Coming Soon: TIMSS 2023 Longitudinal International Database

The TIMSS 2023 Longitudinal International Database (IDB) will be released on February 12, 2026. As the first longitudinal extension of TIMSS, the study followed students from Grade 4 to Grade 5 and from Grade 8 to Grade 9. The database contains student achievement and process data, as well as contextual information at the student, home, teacher, school, and national levels collected in 2023 and 2024. Comprehensive documentation will be provided to support secondary data analyses.

TIMSS 2023: All Pages Now Available

Latest additions

All thematic pages for TIMSS 2023 are now accessible on the ILSA Gateway. In addition to the assessment framework, the pages now include detailed information on the study design, international results, data, and related materials. TIMSS 2023 measured the mathematics and science achievement of fourth and eighth grade students across the 64 participating countries. It also collected contextual data from students, parents, teachers, and schools to provide a comprehensive view of educational environments. The results highlight global trends in STEM education and offer policy-relevant insights.

LaNA 2023 Linking Study Report Now Available

Publications

The LaNA (Literacy and Numeracy Assessment) 2023 Linking Study report is now available open-access online. Conducted by IEA and the TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center at Boston College, the study aimed to measure basic reading and mathematics skills at the primary school level.
