Information about TALIS Starting Strong 2024 has been added to the ILSA Gateway. The study focuses on the early childhood education and care (ECEC) workforce, examining staff practices with children, staff and leader characteristics, and features of ECEC settings, as well as cross-cutting themes such as diversity, equity, and inclusion and the use of digital technology. The first pages of the OECD Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) 2024 are now available on the ILSA Gateway. They provide important background information on the study, which investigates teachers’ and school leaders’ working conditions, teaching practices, and professional development across 60 education systems. Additional information, including details on the study framework, will be made available after the official release in summer 2025.

New OECD Report in TALIS series: Teachers Getting the Best out of Their Students. From Primary to Upper Secondary Education

This report presents results from TALIS 2018 participants who administered the optional primary education survey (15 out of 48 countries and economies) and/or the upper secondary education survey (11 out of 48 countries and economies). Its main goal is to understand if there are any similarities and differences between the dimensions of professionalism and educational challenges found in primary and upper secondary education compared to those found in lower secondary education.

TALIS 2018: Valuing Teachers and School Leaders as Professionals

Rebecca Vukovic, in her article, argues that although almost 90% of teachers in OECD's TALIS 2018 study reported that they liked their profession, only a few reported that they think they were valued by the society. In this article, the author goes on to disseminate findings from the TALIS 2018 study to highlight teachers' views on different aspects of their profession.
