The highly anticipated PISA results, originally scheduled for 2021, were delayed by a year due to COVID-19 disruptions, with 690,000 students participating in 2022 across 81 countries. New entrants included Cambodia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mongolia, the Palestinian Authority, Paraguay, and Uzbekistan. The tests evaluated 15-year-olds in mathematics, reading, and science, while also gathering extensive data on students' and principals' experiences during the pandemic, forming the largest global collection to assess its impact on learning directly from those involved.
