The database includes student achievement data as well as student, home, teacher, school, and national context data for 64 countries and 8 benchmarking participants. TIMSS 2019 is the seventh assessment cycle of TIMSS since 1995, providing 24 years of trends in mathematics and science achievement at the fourth and eighth grades.

The 'TIMSS 2019 User Guide for the International Database' (Fishbein, Foy, & Yin, 2021) and its three supplements describes the entire database and its supporting documents. The data can be analyzed using IEA IDB Analyzer (Version 4.0), an application developed by IEA to facilitate the analysis of TIMSS data.
