PIRLS 2026 Assessment Framework is Published

The PIRLS 2026 Assessment Frameworks, published by the PIRLS International Study Center at Boston College, is now available. This essential document outlines the methodology for assessing reading literacy and includes three main chapters:

  1. Reading Assessment Framework: Defines reading literacy and the methods for assessing reading achievement.
  2. Contextual Framework: Describes the contextual information collected about students' reading development, both at school and home.
  3. Assessment Design: Details the organization of the PIRLS 2026 reading assessment, including the group-adaptive design.

Recognized globally for tracking trends in reading, PIRLS has been a cornerstone of educational assessment since 2001, with this being its sixth cycle.
