Theme: Disruptions
Introduction
The 30th Congress of the German Educational Research Association (GERA), focusing on the theme “Disruptions”, held in cooperation with Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), Universität der Bundeswehr München, and Technische Universität München, will take place from 22 to 25 March 2026 on the campus of LMU.
The congress theme focuses on disruptions (upheavals, breakthroughs, collapses, or new departure points) as integral elements of education, socialization, and development. Disruptive moments—such as social, cultural, technological, or political changes—create breaks and transitions that challenge established structures but also open opportunities for innovation and new directions in education. The congress emphasizes understanding these transitions not only as problems but as productive moments with the potential positively shape future (educational) pathways.
