Policy Brief: PIRLS for Teachers. Making PIRLS Results More Useful for Practitioners

In order to improve the impact of the PIRLS data on pedagogy in the classroom, researchers and local teachers worked together on Oxford University’s PIRLS for Teachers project.

This project aimed to provide teachers in England with good guidance on interpreting and using knowledge from PIRLS to improve their own teaching of reading in primary schools.

The end result of the project involved; developing videos, posters, and podcasts supporting the best teaching practices, developing workshops and practitioner conferences where teachers interacted with researchers on how best to use the data collected by PIRLS and encouraged education systems that have participated in PIRLS to involve teachers in the interpretation of the PIRLS data.
