Report on the State of Citizenship and Human Rights Education in Europe

In accordance with the objectives and principles of the Council of Europe Charter on Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education, the Report aims;

  • To collect and analyse data on education for democratic citizenship and human rights (while making use of the existing sources of information and building synergies with other relevant actors);
  • To promote public debate on education for democratic citizenship and human rights;
  • To facilitate the development of sustainable mechanisms / channels for dialogue among the key partners.

The present Report is part of the 2nd review cycle of the implementation of the Council of Europe Charter on Education for democratic citizenship and human rights. The conclusions of the Report were discussed at the Conference on the State of Citizenship and Human Rights Education in Europe (Strasbourg, 20-22 June 2017).
