In order to better understand differences between education systems’ performance, background information on non-cognitive variables such as instructional practices or students’ motivation for mathematics and science; the journal of Studies in Educational Evaluation has launched a call for papers for a special issue on TIMSS. This special issue aims to give the non-cognitive measures of the TIMSS study a prominent focus in studying educational outcomes. Contributions that address empirical, methodological and theoretical aspects regarding the role of non-cognitive measures in different perspectives on effectiveness in TIMSS are welcomed.
